Weekend Baking

Tomorrow will be my parents 36th wedding anniversary. Sounds like a good excuse to do some baking, right? No need to get all fancy with the packaging when it is for your parents :)

I don't do pie. I wish I did. I wish I could make an awesome pie. It's just not in me. I had a refrigerated pie crust that needed to be used up so I attempted to make a Chocolate Chess Pie. Interesting, to say the least.
I also made some Rocky Road Peanut Butter Candy Cups. Ah.Maze.Ing. The perfect mix of crunchy, salty, peanut butter, chocolate, gooey, crunchy. So yummy!

My mom is one of the few people I know that does not like the chocolate/peanut butter combo. For her I made some Oreo brownies. Each cupcake wrapper has a whole Oreo on the bottom, brownie batter with chopped up Oreos, and (not pictured) vanilla frosting with chopped up Oreos mixed in. Yum!

I saw these on a blog this weekend and knew I needed to make them! Not your basic Rice Krispies. These have peanut butter mixed into the marshmallow goo and the peanut butter cups on the top. Also very yummy!

I love baking for family because the pressure to impress isn't there and (let's be honest) I leave a bit behind for my little family to enjoy! Happy Anniversary mom and dad!

Giant Cupcake Cake

I recently had a customer with this request: bright colors, zebra print, but no black icing. This was my first attempt at anything resembling zebra print with butter cream. I'm not a fondant fan, so it was a bit tough and this picture doesn't really do it justice. I just love this giant cup cake pan!

These were some extra cupcakes in zebra liners and iced with bright colors!

Special Agent Oso

I made some Special Agent Oso cookies and a cake for a little boy turning 4 years old! These are the Oso paw cookies.

This was the first time I have used my 3D bear pan. I was a bit nervous from the last time I tried to do something creative, but I have it a try anyway! Here is the bear fresh out of the oven and cooled off. (It's a cake mix with sprinkles in it)
These pictures were taken with my cell phone so the color is a bit off.
Here is Oso decorated!
I put a "4" and the little boys name on the back of the Oso jacket.
I also had some generic birthday cookies to make. Then I couldn't neglect my family so I made Matt's favorite (m&m cookies) and iced some cupcakes made with the leftover cake batter. Here is the spread that I ended up with this weekend!

Mother's Day/Bake Sale Pictures

Here are a few pictures from Mother's Day and a bake sale that I made cookies for. I love these boxes from the Target Dollar Spot. I wish I had bought more!!!

Mother's day bouquet for a co-worker's mom and grandma.

A cute paint bucket for a group of people I work with on a daily basis. I'm blessed to work with such great people!

I recently bought food markers and I'm looking for excuses to use them. So far I've detailed some leaves....and they are great! What a smart idea.

I'm looking forward to my next big project: Cakes for a party this weekend! Twin boy/girl 1st birthday and big sister's 5th birthday. How fun!
